This month’s important seminar is focused on unlocking the secrets of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) to make it work for you! Have you ever tried to secure workers through the TFWP and not had luck, or thought about it and decided it would be too difficult? This seminar is for you!
Join us for the important topic: “Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program for the Restoration Industry.”
The BCRAO will have two senior officers from the Temporary Foreign Worker Program presenting. The seminar will give a summary of what the Temporary Foreign Worker Program is, and how it can be utilized by our contractor members to assist in labour shortage issues they are encountering. The seminar will have an active Q&A at the end, where B&CRAO members can pose questions directly to the senior officers of the program.

Introduction to the New CCDC -2020, June 29th, 2021
The CCDC2 -2020 Stipulated Price Contract has been published and is now in effect. This year (2021) represents the transition period between the old and new Stipulated Price Contract. The Canadian Construction Document Committee has further indicated that as of December 2021 they will no longer be producing the seals for CCDC 2 -2008.
Join us as Ted Katsoris, Principal and Team Leader at Morrison Hershfield, outlines some of the key changes between the old and new contract, including the introduction of “Payment Legislation, Ready for Take-Over” as well as the implications of Early Occupancy by the Owner, Updated Insurance requirements, etc.

Virtual Webinar- Upcoming changes to CSA S413: The Canadian Parking Standard On Wednesday, May 26th from 1-2pm, the Building Concrete Restoration Association of Ontario (B&CRAO) and Sealant and Waterproofing Association (SWA) are pleased to provide a joint technical seminar on the highlights of the changes to the CSA – S413 Parking Structures design standard. The public review period is now complete and the final release of the CSA S413-21 – Parking Structures design standard is scheduled for release later this year. This Standard was prepared by the CSA Technical Committee on Parking Structures, including members of our associations working with industry stakeholders on this very important initiative. This will be the fifth edition of the CSA S413 and includes many changes that will improve the durability of parking structures. Presenters:

With that in mind, we have worked hard to ensure our event is as informative as possible, and that it would be free to members. We are very pleased to announce that we will be joined by the new Deputy Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Mr. Greg Meredith. As the most senior civil servant in charge of the construction sector, Mr. Meredith will be speaking to members about how he has seen the industry respond to the pressures of COVID-19, and what we might expect in 2021 from the government’s perspective. Seminar on Restoration of Reinforced Concrete Historic Buildings by Eliseo Conciatori Join B&CRAO on Wednesday, January 15th for a presentation on “Restoration of Reinforced Concrete Historic Buildings”. Eliseo Conciatori from Vector Construction will explain the realkalization process and provide case histories of two prominent historic buildings. When carbonation of environmentally exposed concrete occurs, steel reinforcing corrodes causing concrete damage, such as delaminations, cracking, spalling and it eventually affects the building’s appearance. Falling concrete debris may also cause serious safety issues. The best and most long term method to stop and permanently prevent reinforcement corrosion in carbonated concrete structures is by another electro-chemical process called realkalization.
